Religion
Religion in Malta is mostly Roman Catholic and most Maltese claim to be Catholic and participate in Catholic religious services. The Maltese Constitution defines Catholicism as the state religion but freedom of religion is guaranteed as a constitutional right and is generally respected. There is growing secularism as further ethnic groups settle on the island.
There are 359 churches in Malta & Gozo and many uncounted private chapels making more than one church per square kilometer.
