Qawra
Largest tourist resort on the island
The towns of Bugibba and Qawra form the largest tourist resort on the island and provide its visitors with all the necessary amenities and facilities they need for a quality holiday – all within easy walking distance. Such amenities in the area include bars, restaurants, shops, a casino, watersports facilities and internet cafés. Qawra provides visitors with various al fresco dining options and despite its popularity with locals and tourists, prices here tend to be significantly lower than other tourist resorts in Malta.
Don't forget to check out the Malta National Aquarium
Fronted by a long seaside promenade, Qawra offers a wide range of quality hotels, as well as accommodation and apartments for the budget conscious. A man-made sandy beach provides a popular spot for bathers but visitors may also wish to enjoy the luxury of one of the private beach clubs, plentiful along the coast. A new attraction which has recently opened along the seafront is the Water Park, a free facility for children to enjoy splashing around amongst the colourful water fountains. In the near future, a large sea-life centre will open its doors to the public, educating them about the interesting and varied marine life found around Malta’s coastline. The young and the young at heart can also enjoy Amazonia and Fuego, two of the most popular indoor and outdoor nightclubs in the area.
The main public bus station for the north of the island is also found in Qawra and provides easy access to tourist attractions and other places of interest all over Malta. You can travel to the capital city of Valletta or the sandy beaches of Mellieha Bay and Golden Bay from this terminus, as well as to Cirkewwa, where you can catch the ferry to Gozo.
