Classes and Courses Schedules
Visas: Students are responsible for checking visa requirements before travel. Refer to the Central Visa Unit | Identity Malta Agency for up-to-date information.
Start days: Group courses start on a Monday and end on a Friday. Mid-week starts may be approved at the school's discretion to align with flights.
Timetables: Lessons are scheduled between 08:30 and 16:30. Typical timetables: Standard courses eg General Courses (20 lessons): 09:00 - 10:30, 11:00 - 12:30. Intensive courses (30 Lessons): as above + 13:00 - 14:30 or 15:00 - 16:30. Professional Courses: 08:30 - 10:00, 11.00- 13:30. During peak periods, some cources may be run in the afternoons.
Venues: We may deliver classes in annexes or approved off-site facilities.
Minimum group size & lesson conversion: A minimum of 3 students is required to offer all our group courses. If there are less than 3 students in the class, lesson times will be reduced as follows: 2 students in class: 20 group lessons will be reduced to 15 Two to One lessons (09.00-10.30,11.00-11.45) and 30 group lessons will be reduced to 20 Two to One lessons (09.00-10.30,11.00-12.30), 1 student in class: 20 group lessons will be reduced to 10 One to One lessons (09.00-10.30) and 30 group lessons will be reduced to 15 One to One lessons (09.00-10.30,11.00-11.45). Course fees remain unchanged in all cases.
Attendance & certificates: A certificate of achievement is issued to students who attend 90% of their lessons.
Course resources & Green Policy (Digital First). We are a Green Standard School. Most learning resources are provided digitally (e.g., PDFs, slides, or via online platforms such as Microsoft Teams) and may include in-house digital packs that are the proprietary materials of Alpha School. Students are asked to bring their own device (laptop, tablet, or phone) and writing material.
Examinations: Examination course fees do not include the exam registration fee or the transfer to/from the examination test centre. A valid photo identity card or passport is required for entry to the examination.
Public Holidays & School Closures
Public Holidays: 10 February, 19 March, Good Friday (varies each year), 31 March, 1 May, 7 June, 29 June, 15 August, 8 September, 21 September, 8 December, 13 December, 25 December.
Teaching on holiday weeks: Standard group courses are extended by +30 minutes per teaching day that week. The intensive group courses are extended by +30 minutes on three days of the week. Individual courses (One to One /Two to One): all lessons missed due to public holidays are fully recovered at another agreed time.
Weekend & Christmas closure: The school is closed at weekends and for the 2 week annual shutdown over the Christmas season.
Complaints & Emergencies
Please raise any complaint immediately during your stay and register it in writing while in Malta. We cannot accept liability for complaints first made after departure.
Cancellations & Refunds (Before Arrival)
i) Up to 30 days before start date: €230 per person
ii) Up to 14 days before start date: €230 + 25% of total invoice
iii) Up to 7 days before start date: €230 + 50% of total invoice
After the course /vacation has begun: no refunds for tuition, missed classes, unused services (e.g., accommodation/excursions), or no-shows.
Charges, Administration Fees and Accommodation Charges
Charges after invoice issues or after course start: €50 administration fee per charge.
Accommodation charges: If you choose to change accommodation, a 6-night cancellation fee for the original accommodation applies. While we try to accommodate change requests, they may not always be possible.
It is not possible to switch from group lessons to one-to-one after the course has begun.
Refunds by bank transfer: €25 administration fee per refund.
Eco-Tax (Malta): Until 30.06.2026 - €0.50 from 01.07.2026 €1.50 per adult per night (capped at €5 per stay). This is usually collected directly by the accommodation unless included on your invoice.
Liability, Insurance & Medical Information
Students are liable for any damage to school premises and accommodation.
Alpha School maintains public liability for loss/theft of personal property for accidents occurring on the premises or during activities arranged by third parties.
All students must arrange comprehensive travel, health, and accident insurance before travel.
Please disclose any medical or psychological conditions in advance. Non-disclosure may result in refusal of service without refund if safety or welfare is affected. (no refund will be given in such cases)
Conduct & Behaviour
We reserve the right to dismiss, without refund, any student who seriously breaches school rules or Maltese law, Repatriation costs (if any) are borne by student/parent.
No smoking, vaping, or alcohol is allowed in the school building.
Curfews for minors in host family or guest house.
Under 14 - 22:00, Under 16 - 23:00, Under 18 - 24:00.
Excursions, Activities & Diving
School excursions are accompanied by a school group-leader. Outside of school activities, juniors are not supervised.
Excursions are included only when booked as part of the Activity English Courses or Leisure Packs. Programmes may change due to weather, closures, or operational reasons; comparable substitutions will be provided
Scuba diving: A medical declaration is required. If a Maltese medical exam is necessary, students must pay the clinic/dive centre locally before diving.
Accommodation Notes
Cleaning is not included in Apartment or Villa accommodation. Bed linen and towels are changed weekly.

Minors & Safeguarding
By enrolling a minor, you authorise Alpha School to act in loco parentis in emergencies: parents/caregivers will be contacted as soon as possible.

Data Protection (GDPR)
We process personal data to deliver education and related services, meet legal obligations, and ensure student welfare. Service Charges & Accuracy of Information
We may adjust services where necessary: any substitutions will be of equal or higher standard. Our official website is: www.alphaschoolmalta.com . While we work with trusted partners, we cannot accept responsibility for information on external sites or media.
Force Majeure
Alpha School is not liable for loss, damage, or service interruption arising from events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., extreme weather, public health emergencies, strikes, government action, transport disruption). in such cases, we may deliver alternative formats (including online/hybrid) or reschedule without obligation to refund.
Governing law & Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Maltese law. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malta.
Payments
Bookings are only confirmed once Alpha School has issued a confirmation letter and invoice.
A non-refundable deposit of €230 per student is required to confirm a booking. Your booking is not final until we have recived full payment. The balance must be paid at least 4 weeks before arrival.

Credit card (direct to Alpha School): a 2.75% charge applies
PayPal: Accepted. All PayPal fees (currently 3.88-5.25%) are added to the final invoice. Payments should be sent to payments@alphaschoolmalta.com.
Bookings/payments are non-transferable. Fees paid for tuition cannot e transferred to accommodation/activities and vice versa.
