English Language development for teachers - Subject Specific 5-day
Are you a non-native English teacher or lecturer teaching English, or another subject, entirely in the English language? Do you sometimes find collocations confusing, prepositions perplexing, and idioms idiotic? Do you want to improve your own understanding of grammar, structures and vocabulary? Then our tailor-made, subject-specific English language courses are for you. We are able to work with you to produce a course that will suit your individual needs centred around your areas of expertise.
Our Teachers’ Top-Up courses consist of language development lessons + subject-specific teaching methodology. The subject-specific lessons are usually in a small group although they may be individual.
Our skilled team of teachers will work closely with you to develop a course that is completely personalised to you and your subject-specific English language needs. Being in control of your own learning will create a unique and useful course that will focus on your development at your own pace. You will steer the learning as you are the one who knows best what you need. Our teachers will supplement your ideas and needs with a range of additional English-based exercises as they assess your progress. This is a truly exciting course as you are the one in control.
- Over a 1 or 2-week period you will practise each day with others of a similar skill level to develop your English language skills. You will improve your English for everyday situations and as a means of communication in class
- In the afternoon you will work with a member of our teaching staff in a small group or on a One-to-One basis to develop a subject-specific programme that suits your own subject teaching. In addition to building on key subject vocabulary, you will be subjected to a range of media that will enhance your learning experience. Ideas about teaching and learning for your own students can also be explored as well as general classroom language. You may work with other people in the classroom who teach similar subjects to you.
Suggested Ideas for your Subject-Specific Top-Up courses:
This is an organic and malleable course that develops with you under your control. We do recommend, however, that you contact us in advance to highlight some of your needs within your subject area. This will give our teaching staff time to plan some of your tailor-made lessons prior to your visit.
