The 8th of September is a national holiday for Malta as this date commemorates the end of the 1565 Great Siege, the end of the French occupation in Malta in the year 1800 as well as the end of Italian bombardments in 1943.
Various State ceremonies will be held in the morning and in the afternoon, a traditional rowing boat regatta will be held at the Grand Harbour. During the evening, various towns throughout Malta and Gozo celebrate" 'Our Lady of Victory' which is a traditional feast which was celebrated for the first time in 1565.

 

The Olive Oil Event

Zejt iz-Zejtun Zejt iz-Zejtun is an event which will be celebrating the olive picking season and olive pressing for oil. The place name of Zejtun in itself has its semantic connotations in the fruit of the olive trees.






 

The Big Bang Clubbers Event

Big Bang As September draws the end of the summer season, the Big Bang is set to host the continuation of top class events. This spectacular shall be complemented by an Invincible line up, spread amongst two separate dates. The 7th of September & the 20th of September, eves of a public holiday.

Prolific drum techno producer ADAM BEYER shall be headlining the Techno Area, The French House Master ANTOINE CLAMARAN is back to our shores for yet another epic set, Trance duo COSMIC GATE rated 19th in Dj Mag and Israeli pioneer of electronic music Supplements Facts Record Label owner GUY GERBER.... shall be highlighting this event, alongside TWO more headliners to be revealed Soon ...

Malta International Air Show

air show Spend an enjoyable day with family and friends by visiting this year's Malta International Airshow 2010. Interesting aircraft and helicopters await you on the static display at Luqa in the morning featuring various types of aircraft. Around lunch time make your way to the food stall in the area and get ready for a spectacular aerial display held over the airfield.

At the static show expect to find a good variety of aircraft from tiny ultra-light aircraft to the big, heavy jets. From helicopters to fast jets coming from a varied number of countries. There you'll find the pilots and aircrew proudly standing by their aircraft, ready to answer most questions and perhaps even giving you a tour around their planes, subject to permission.

The list of participants is still growing but an exciting and thrilling mix of man and machine will surely take your breath away.






 

Notte Bianca

Notte Bianca The annual Notte Bianca wil l be held in Valletta’s streets on September 25th, and this time, organisers would like to create the biggest ever Open Air Art Gallery.

The concept: transforming the streets of Valletta into an open air art gallery.

Visitors will walk through the city amidst various forms of art such as paintings, sculptures, photography, installations. Artists are invited to exhibit their existing works of art or to prepare new art specifically for this event.

 

Elton John with Ray Cooper

Elton John Live in Concert Elton John is honouring his promise to visit Malta again, returning for a concert on September 26.
Organised by NNG Promotions, the concert will see the return of one of the music icons of the last 40 years. The British singer has sold more than 250 million albums, and produced classic songs like Daniel, Your Song and Candle in the Wind.

Knighted in 1998, Sir Elton has been heavily involved in the fight against AIDS since the late 1980s. He has won five Grammy awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Tony Award.

He had played a memorable solo concert at the granaries in Floriana in 2003, during which he had promised to return in future. For the Malta concert he will be accompanied by Ray Cooper, who has performed with some of the world's finest artists.
